Spiral cookies

Melt the chocolate over low heat with a tablespoon of milk (or microwave) and leave to cool.

The soft butter at room temperature mixes with the sugar until it becomes like a cream. Add the egg and mix well. Then add the cooled chocolate, the essence and at the end the flour mixed with baking powder and cocoa. Let cool for 1 hour.

Proceed exactly with the white chocolate dough, which is also left to cool for 1 hour.

On the lightly floured table, spread the 2 parts of the dough, in a rectangular sheet, about 1 cm thick. Overlap the 2 sheets, then roll tightly on the large side.

We cut thick slices of about 1-1.5 cm with a very sharp knife or with a piece of thread. Place the slices in a tray lined with baking paper and bake until they start to brown on the edges.

I didn't have time to take individual pictures of them, I posed for them directly in the basket of goodies prepared for Santa. :))


Rub the yeast with a teaspoon of sugar until it becomes creamy then add 2-3 tablespoons of warm milk and a teaspoon of flour, mix and let it rise.

In a bowl put the egg and sugar, mix a little and then add the yeast.

Gradually add the flour and warm milk in which I added the melted butter (I heat the milk together with the butter).

Add a little salt and knead until the dough comes off the bowl (about 10 minutes, be careful the dough is a little harder).

Let it grow covered with a textile towel for an hour and a half.

Then we turn the dough on a plate lined with flour, knead a little more just to gather and then spread a sheet of about 30x50cm.

Grease it with melted butter, add the sugar and then the sliced ​​strawberries as well as the chocolate. Roll lightly and cut into slices about 2 cm with a sharp knife.

In total, about 15-16 slices come out.

We put them in a greased tray or lined with baking sheet, slightly apart and let them rise for another 15 minutes, during which time we heat the oven to 200gC.

Bake approx. 15 minutes until lightly browned on top.

We prepare the icing by mixing the lemon juice with the powdered sugar and we put it over the spirals when they are warm (I didn't make the icing, I just put a little powdered sugar on top).

Serve as fast and warm as possible :).

This recipe for spicy ginger cookies has been around since the 70's and gives a new and interesting flavor to your jar of cookies. At that time, it was printed on Kotányi ginger bags. Embark on a culinary journey through time, as we present this recipe exactly as it was then.


How to prepare the spiral with apples and caramel icing

Did you prepare the ingredients? Very well. Then get to work! You will get two spirals that, if you have two shapes, you can prepare and put in the oven simultaneously. If you only have one shape, you will have to make them one at a time.

Put the flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon and yeast in the mixer bowl and mix well.

In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the warm milk. Then add them over the ingredients in the mixer bowl and mix for about 4 minutes, until you get a dough. This dough will then have to be leavened for an hour or an hour and a half, until it doubles in volume. So cover it with a towel and keep it warm.

After a while, divide the dough into two equal parts. Sprinkle flour on the worktop and, with the help of the rolling pin, spread each of the two pieces of dough. From each sheet obtained cut strips of about 2 cm. It is important to get 9 strips from a single sheet of dough.

Once you have finished this operation, proceed to cleaning and cutting the apples. The apple slices must be thin and not exceed the height of the dough strips in height.

Grease a round shape with butter or oil and start mounting the spiral from the center of the shape to the edges. Place a strip of dough first and shape it into a light spiral. In the formed spiral, insert the apple slices. Continue in the same way with the rest of the dough strips and apple slices, until you reach the edge of the form.

If you have two shapes, assemble the second dough right now.

Once the shaped dough spiral is in place, cover it with plastic wrap for 45 minutes, during which time it will rise again. 10 minutes before the rise time expires, turn on the oven. Put the preparation in the oven, over medium heat to high, for 20-25 minutes, until golden.

Meanwhile, prepare the topping. In a bowl, mix the cinnamon with the sugar. When you take the spiral out of the oven, grease it with melted butter and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top.

While the preparation cools, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and let them boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and continue to stir for another 2 minutes. Add the apple cider vinegar and simmer for another 1-2 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for about 30 minutes.

After it has cooled, add the powdered sugar and mix very well. If the icing becomes very hard, add another half teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. If, on the other hand, the icing is too soft, add extra powdered sugar. Then pour the icing over the toast.

If you only managed to make one of the two doughs, follow the same steps for the second dough.

Spirals with garlic and corn

And crispy and fluffy and with garlic taste :). I found the recipe interesting, especially since it is fasting, so last night I tried it and I can write you that I liked it (that's why I'm posting it :)).

  • 300g wheat flour
  • 200g corn flour
  • 300-320ml warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 16g fresh yeast
  • 2-3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 7-8 cloves of garlic
  • 1 link green dill
  • a little pepper

1. Rub the yeast with the sugar, add 2 tablespoons of warm water and leave it warm for 10 minutes.

2. Mix the flour and form a pile on the kneading board.

At the edge we put the salt and in the middle we make a hole and add the raised yeast.

3. Knead, gradually adding warm water until you get a dough that comes off the fingers.

4. Leave to rise covered for 1 hour.

5. Spread the dough on the table sprinkled with flour in a sheet 5-7 mm thick and grease it with oil mixed with crushed garlic. Sprinkle with chopped dill and roll lightly.

6. Cut with a well-sharpened knife 1.5 cm rolls and place them in the tray lined with baking paper.

7. Let them rise for another 20 minutes and then grease them with olive oil.

8. Bake for 20 minutes at 180gC (the recipe said 20 minutes at 200gC, I thought the temperature was a bit too high and I reduced it).
